2024
FASHION
PREDICTIONS

Words by Tilly Stewart

Seeing as last week I discussed the hottest interior design predictions for 2024...it's only right that this week is about the hottest fashion predictions.

It's no secret that I love fashion so, I thought I'd give you the run down on what I predict will be in everyone's wardrobes by the end of the year. So, let's get into it...

LEOPARD PRINT

Leopard print has always held a special place in my heart but for some people it can seem a little more daunting, especially for those who prefer a more minimalistic aesthetic. However, in my opinion leopard print is a staple in any wardrobe and can also be a neutral! If you're struggling to style this particular print then consider pairing it with an all black outfit, or simply just a white tee and jeans.

I have already seen a lot of leopard so far in 2024 as it is a great way to spice up any outfit, either through clothing or accessories. It allows for any basic outfit to be elevated whilst still looking chic- from the viral Wales Bonner Adidas Sambas to the Ganni leopard jeans, leopard print is going to be a hot topic this year.

PINK

Now, this one is a little more obvious considering the hold The Barbie movie has had on the fashion industry. Pink was everywhere in 2023 and it's definitely here to stay, however, I think we're going to be seeing a lot more pastel and baby pinks in monochromatic form. For example, as shown above on the 1993 S/S Valentino runway and the Marc Jacobs 2020 A/W runway.

INTERESTING SHAPES

We've seen interesting shapes and forms on the runway for years now and I'm so excited that we are finally seeing these being introduced more and more in streetwear.

Similar to the design world, unique and interesting shapes are a way to express individuality and personal style as well as creating visual interest. If your desired aesthetic leans more towards minimalism, then introducing interesting shapes to your outfit can help take it to that next level. Brands such as Schiaparelli and Alaia are great examples of this in both clothing and accessories.

STATEMENT JEWELLERY

Another personal favourite of mine for quite some time now is statement jewellery and mixing both gold and silver together. There is a continuous debate on whether 'you're a gold or silver person' but the truth is, the two look delicious when paired together.  Statement jewellery is also a way to elevate any outfit and is almost always a better investment than statement clothing. Expect to see sculptural jewellery pieces this year, particularly rings and bold 90s inspired earrings.

RED TARTAN

I've been seeing tartan crop back up here and there, particularly towards the end of 2023 and my prediction is that this year we will be seeing a lot more red tartan, specifically blazers and coats- just like the one shown on Kate Moss for YSL 94 A/W collection. Tartan can sometimes be difficult to style but we've got you covered; opt for a tartan blazer, white tee and jeans paired with black velvet accessories and boots or equally, a black mini skirt with a long tartan coat, cream and black loafers and a brown or caramel leather bag.

At the end of the day, fashion and personal style should be all about what makes you feel comfortable and confident. It's always good to stay inspired and be aware of trends however, I never allow a trend to fully dictate my personal wardrobe and instead look to purchase things that I can wear time and time again. I use Pinterest as a daily source of  inspiration as well as admiring Kate Moss, Gwyneth Paltrow, Bella Hadid, Devon Lee Carlson and many more for styling tips.
