Happy New Year!!!

After a few weeks off over the festive period we are back with our weekly journal and this week is all about the hottest interior design predictions of 2024. This year we predict bigger, bolder and brighter interiors allowing people to push their boundaries and step out of their comfort zones. So, lets get into it- here are SAVVY's 2024 interior design predictions...

BLUE

This year we are going to be seeing a lot of blue hues within the design world as we predict blue will be the 'IT' colour of 2024.

Blue is a cooler colour however, when paired correctly it can create a cosy and moody atmosphere. We predict that pastel blue in particular will be all the rave, especially in monochromatic schemes.

The world of interior design is forever evolving, mental health and wellness are beginning to play a more important role within the industry and be taken into consideration when working on projects. Blue is a colour that offers a sense of calm and relaxation so it is a perfect colour to consider for your home. It also can be associated with confidence and happiness which can subconsciously influence a person's mood.

WALL FINISHES

We will be seeing a lot more attention to detail when it comes to wall finishes this year. Lime wash has been the recent craze over the last couple of years however, I have a feeling people will steer away from simply painting their walls and become more experimental... saying that, I still LOVE a lime wash finish.

The desire for Scandi and neutral homes is beginning to fade and dramatic design is in. Wall murals, wallpaper, tiles and stone will be seen more in wall finishes within interior design in 2024 as people want their homes to be filled with personality, character and history. High gloss paint and lacquer will also become more demanding as it is a way to introduce drama into your home and can be used to add depth and texture within a room.

2024 is going to be all about attention to detail and walls can sometimes be overlooked, when in fact they can be the focal point within a space.

Investing in visually intriguing and unusual items whether it be furniture, accessories, art or lighting is a way to reflect your personal style and ensure a unique aesthetic. It is becoming more and more popular to thrift and source vintage pieces and the trend of mixing old with new design is only getting hotter.

STAINLESS STEEL

Over the last couple of years gold and brass finishes have had their moment in the design world however, I have a feeling we're going to be seeing stainless steel everywhere in 2024- introduced into rooms by the form of kitchen cabinets, accessories and freestanding furniture.

Stainless steel paired with any other natural element such as marble or wood creates a dramatic yet inviting ambiance and will definitely create visual intrigue within your home.

Keep in mind though, stainless steel is a nightmare to keep clean so it is not for the faint hearted.

BURL WOOD

Now, this is a trend that is creeping up and is definitely not to everyones liking. Burl wood is a natural element that will guarantee a dramatic effect and distinctive appeal. Very popular during the Art Deco movement, burl is making a comeback in modern design and we're here for it.
